Loretta Preece

Loretta Preece is the award-winning producer behind some of the UK’s most high-profile and popular continuing drama series, including Casualty, Doctors, and The Sister Boniface Mysteries.  As Series Producer for Casualty, she led the creative team that won an unprecedented hat-trick of award wins in a single year – BAFTA, RTS and Broadcast.  Under her stewardship, the landmark BBC medical series received notable acclaim for both its portrayal of disability on screen and a hard-hitting episode looking at how Coronavirus has affected NHS emergency departments.

Loretta is the Joint Creative Director of Strong Film and Television. At Strong, working with acclaimed director James Strong and Matt Tombs, Loretta has developed a slate of scripted projects that have served as a magnet for both top draw writing and acting talent, and in many cases commissioners.  She has used her passion for the writers’ room environment to both develop ideas from an early stage and to give more inexperienced writers exposure to the process from concept to page. Loretta’s knowledge and love for the world of literature has found Strong many exciting prospects for adaptation, and mould-breaking collaborations.

Strong’s first commission for ITV has been announced.  MAJESTY  depicts the life of a young Elizabeth I and her place in the court of King Henry VIII.  Far from being an historical account of Elizabeth’s early years, Majesty, is a bold, intriguing reimagining of her life based upon conspiracy theories which surrounded her as a youth.  The writers are  Joan Rater, Tony Phelan and Bill Harper, former showrunners of GREY’S ANATOMY and the US writing team behind Disney+’s recent A SMALL LIGHT.
